The most understudied multicellular group of organisms on the planet is fungi: only 7% of all fungal species have been described! And the fungi we have described are weird and wonderful. Dr. Alison Bennett has made a career of trying to understand fungi. She focuses on a group of fungi that live within a plant's roots but are found throughout the world. From farmlands to the Rocky mountains to the lab, Alison has looked for answers about how fungi help plants in amazingly weird ways.
