Leslie is an applied linguist and a linguistic anthropologist. Her research examines the social and cultural patterning of learning and language development in communities whose members use multiple languages and participate in multiple learning traditions. Leslie has done research in rural and urban communities in northern Cameroon, in the Somali community in Central Ohio, and in partnership with COSI.  Leslie has lead a team of OSU faculty along with COSI team members on a project that began the systematic study of science and children’s museum programs and practices for preschool dual language learners, their families, and the community organizations and early childhood professionals who serve them.  Visit the website for more information!  http://u.osu.edu/expandingrepertoiresinformalscience/
