Founded by a group of new faculty in 2012, STEAM Factory aims to increase connections and innovation across all colleges and disciplines, with a special focus on supporting individuals who are new to The Ohio State University or those switching/expanding to new fields. STEAM Factory activities aim to facilitate collaboration and enhance dissemination of Ohio State research and scholarship.
Our Function
- Collaboration
- The STEAM Factory provides an avenue through which researchers and scholars from all disciplines can broaden their perspectives, share resources, spark creative research ideas and form collaborations across areas of common interest.
- Dissemination
- STEAM Factory programs aim to reach and engage all corners of The Ohio State University, as well as the Columbus community.
Current Leadership
Dr. Maurice Stevens (they/them) serves as the Faculty Director of the STEAM Factory, as well as the Associate Dean of Engagement for the College of Arts and Sciences.
Courtney Price (she/they) provides administrative and programmatic support for the STEAM Factory. They serve as a Community Engagement Liaison for the Office of Engagement in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Our History
What started as an idea in 2012 grew into vibrant and diverse community. For many years, the STEAM Factory operated a third space in Franklinton. Though we said goodbye to the physical location in 2025, the STEAM Factory spirit and programming carries on.
