The Columbus Science Pub presents: Dr. Chris Tonra discussing bird migration.

In spring birds are on our mind as they return for their northern breeding season. But where are your favorite backyard friends the rest of the year? Chris and his students use satellite tracking, GPS technology, and radio telemetry to address all sorts of questions about the where, when, and how of bird migration. Their goal is to move more towards a “full annual cycle” of migratory birds instead of just in the breeding season. This would give scientists more information to study anthropogenic change, climate change, and impacts of land-use in the tropics and temperate zone.
