What is less well known, as depicted in the HBO/BBC film Einstein and Eddington (2008), is that this paper was published in the midst of World War I while Einstein was working as a professor in Berlin and while his private life was unraveling. Einstein and Eddington captures this chaos and it highlights the friendship between Einstein and the great English astronomer Sir Aurthur Eddington. CCAPP in partnership with the STEAM factory will host a showing of the film in Strongwater’s beloved event space at 400 West Rich St. near downtown Columbus on November 17 at 6pm. The film will be followed by a brief panel discussion led by Prof. Chris Orban featuring OSU’s local experts on the history of astronomy and philosophy. The event is free and open to the public. Free popcorn will be provided. Drinks can be purchased from Strongwater’s cash bar and a food truck will be on hand.
