We asked Gerika a few questions about her role at Ohio State, as well as her thoughts on the STEAM Factory!

  • What is your role at OSU and what does that entail?
    • I serve as the Outreach Coordinator at the Center for Urban and Regional Analysis (CURA) at The Ohio State University. In this role, I oversee leading center events, creating community and university partnerships, and communicating news through various channels. I am passionate about urban planning topics related to housing and public transportation. I have worked in city planning, rail development, and non-profit spaces. I received a master’s in city and Regional Planning from The Ohio State University.
  • What is your favorite aspect of your position?
    • My favorite aspect of my role is community partnerships. I love connecting with people in the communities we are partnering with for projects.
  • What have you learned from this position?
    • I have learned more about the University and the various centers and institutions on campus.
  • Why did you decide to become a STEAM member?
    • I wanted to continue to learn about different things going on and off campus. I wanted to be included in the different events STEAM hosted. I was sold on the peaceful space that I could co-work from and rent from.
  • Have you been to any STEAM events? Do you have any favorites?
    • Yes, I have been to an event on movement, and it was incredible. So many great presentations, and I was able to connect with faculty and staff as I was new to the University when I joined.
