That said, we know racial equity--and understanding how we can work collectively to advance racial equity at our institution and in our work--is something many of you are deeply passionate about. For this reason, the STEAM Factory and Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity are teaming up to develop a proposal responding to the Ohio State Office of Research call for action on racial justice. We will be proposing to develop a certificate course for faculty around racial equity to help faculty learn to be better allies and to actively integrate the continual work of anti-racism into our research, teaching, outreach and service, and to serve as ambassadors of this work within our institution and fields, with STEAM Factory members as participants for our pilot year. To inform this proposal, we are hosting a virtual facilitated collective conversation on the evening September 2nd, 2020 (6 to 7:30 pm EDT) to better understand what your wants and needs would be from such a program. This event is open to all STEAM members who want to contribute thoughts, insights and ideas to a much larger effort aimed at creating meaningful and transformative change.  (**Please note that this is a separate event from the STEAM Racial Justice Pitch Event that will be held on August 27th.) No homework is required. Please come as you are, willing to listen and share safely, openly and honestly. Please register here if you want to join us for the virtual event. We, as members of the STEAM Factory, are well-positioned to create the interdisciplinary, innovative, and translationally impactful research that propels the change needed in this world for justice and equity for all. Who: This event is a collaborative effort between The STEAM Factory and Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity. Maurice Stevens and Kip Holley will serve as facilitators. What: STEAM Factory and Kirwan Center facilitated conversation When: Wednesday, September 2nd from 6 to 7:30pm  Anyone interested in joining this session can register here to attend online via Zoom. By the end of the evening, we anticipate have a deeper understanding of our community strengths and needs toward creating a truly anti-racist and equitable future. We ask that you attend if you are able, but if you cannot attend and are still interested to provide feedback on this process we will also provide an online survey option. Thank you so much and we hope you have a wonderful start to this new year!  Virtual on Zoom The STEAM Factory at The Ohio State University steamfactory@osu.edu America/New_York public
