Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Maddison is a cultural anthropologist who is passionate about pollinator protection, environmental justice, and critical approaches to conservation. As one of the first ever certified wicked scientists, she works to integrate knowledge from various fields – namely entomology and anthropology – to gain a more holistic understanding of the complex problems surrounding pollinator conservation.

Maddison holds an MA in Anthropology from the Ohio State University where her research focused on framing pollinator habitat conservation as a wicked problem that is both complex and political, and a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of South Carolina. She is now exploring the applications of interdisciplinary team science, critical ecology, and anthropology to valuable work in conservation education.
