Dr. Hefner is an associate professor in the Division of Health Management and Policy and a OSU College of Medicine CATALYST affiliated faculty member. She received both her Master of Public Health and PhD in health services organization and policy from the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on applying management and organizational theories to the study of healthcare transformation. Currently, Dr. Hefner is working on understanding management strategies that are effective in reducing healthcare-associated infections, evaluating healthcare quality measures, and studying the impact of patient portals on healthcare workflow.
