David Hibler M.S. is a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology at OSU. His focus is in complex adaptive systems, specifically how individual specialization, group member interdependence, and group size create feedback systems that influence the evolutionary progression of organisms across boundaries of organizational complexity. David is fascinated by how group dynamics can influence individual behavior, development, and fitness. His interest in these concepts began while he was serving as an Army Combat Medic in Iraq, and have driven him though his bachelor’s degrees, his M.S. in Public Health, and now his Ph.D. David hopes to use his research in these complex systems to better understand the effects of evolutionary pressure in large human populations and to use that knowledge to help develop better public health systems. He is one of the first OSU students to complete the Wicked Science graduate specialization, and also has specializations in Global Health and Demography. He also conducts research in veterans’ health and is a member of the Central Ohio Beekeepers Association.
