Wasiur is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Mathematical Biosciences Institute. He obtained his PhD from the Technische Universit├Ąt Darmstadt in Germany under the supervision of Prof. Heinz Koeppl. Prior to joining the Technische Universit├Ąt Darmstadt, he did his Masters in Statistics (M.Stat.) from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India. He is broadly interested in applications of probability theory, statistical inference and survival analysis to problems in epidemiology, biology and other branches of science. In particular, he is interested in questions of an asymptotic nature, e.g., large graph limits of epidemic processes on random graphs, scaling limits of chemical reaction networks etc. Starting from a rigorous foundation, his goal is to design better inference algorithms for biological and epidemiological data that will help design better public health interventions.
