Alexander received his Specialist (M.Sc.) degree in Chemistry from Saint Petersburg State University (Russia) in 2009. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Georgia (2014), where he worked at the Center for Computational Quantum Chemistry. Alexander did his postdoc at Princeton University in the group of Prof. Garnet Chan. He later moved to to California, where he continued his postdoc in the same research group at the California Institute of Technology. Alexander joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Ohio State University in August 2017 as an Assistant Professor. His research is in theoretical quantum chemistry, which is a field at the intersection of chemistry, physics, and computer science.
