Tyler Young is a graduate teaching associate and Ph.D. student in the Department of Engineering Education, and is also pursuing an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering. He holds a B.S. in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). Tyler has over a decade of experience in education, including experience as a Civic Engagement Scholar at CWRU, a high school science teacher, a researcher and workshop coordinator at the Center for American Indian Research and Native Studies, and an interpretive park ranger with the National Park Service. His research investigates the ways in which engineering programs at tribal colleges and universities strengthen tribal sovereignty and support Native nation building. Additional areas of interest include developing culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogies for teaching engineering, as well as strengthening pathways into engineering for students from American Indian reservations.
