Ruike Zhao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at The Ohio State University. She joined OSU in August 2018 as part of the Discovery Themes' Materials and Manufacturing for Sustainability Initiative. She received her Ph.D. in solid mechanics group from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Brown University in 2016. She then completed postdoctoral training in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT, prior to joining OSU as a faculty member in August 2018. Her research interests include the development of programmable stimuli-responsive soft materials and mechanics-guided structural design for applications in the field of soft robotics, functional actuator and bioengineering.
Dr. Zhao is a faculty member within STEAM's Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Research Program
